Our annual Careers Fair for Year 11 students was held Wednesday 2nd November 2016. With students now having to stay in full time education or training until they are 18 this event was a great way for students and parents to obtain first hand advice and up to date information to help them make that very important decision on their post 16 options.
Gen 2 said
“there was a steady flow of candidates who asked very good questions.”
At UVHS we aim for our students to receive as much independent and impartial advice and guidance as possible, with this in mind our 2016 fair was the biggest to date with 34 exhibitors in attendance. All areas of post 16 education were represented with exhibitors coming from as far away as Scotland and Southampton as well as an extensive local representation of further education facilities, companies offering apprenticeships and the forces.
Cumbria County Council – Stella Atherton said the event was
“well organised and well attended.”
Job Centre Plus ran workshops every half hour over the course of the event which included information on the future and current demand and supply of jobs in the local area.
Johanna a Year 11 student said
“You get lots of information from the Careers Fair which makes you rethink what you want to do when you leave school, I really enjoyed and would definitely recommend it to other students.”
School Angel works with lots of big shopping brands in the UK which have agreed to donate a portion of the profit, they normally make on your shopping if you use the School Angel website to visit their shop. You are guaranteed to only pay exactly the same price, for whatever you buy, but UVHS will also receive a donation.
