Students who study for an EPQ may be given a reduced entry offer for university. This is dependent on the University Course, the link to the EPQ topic and differs between universities.
For example we have had students given the following offers in 2015-16:
Newcastle combined honours’ – ABB reduced to BBB with an A in EPQ
Lancaster Masters in Electronic Engineering – AAA reduced to BBB with an A in EPQ
Lancaster University BA Physics – AAA reduced to AAB with an A in EPQ
Excellence and Challenge Extended Project Qualification
Here at UVHS we follow the examination board AQA for our students to achieve The Extended Project Qualification (EPQ).
To support our students in achieving their high aspirations we feel the EPQ contains the learning objectives which are critical to their success. Students will be taught the necessary skills be able to project manage and carry out their research using and applying theoretical frameworks to the depth of study expected at University. In addition, students will also develop independent learning and thinking skills (questioning and reflection skills) which are transferable to any future career choices valued by universities and employers.
The EPQ allows each student to embark on a largely self-directed and self-motivated project. Students must choose a topic, plan, research and develop their idea and decide on their finished product.
