As part of the Get Set to Eat Fresh Week, Cookery Club welcomed guest chef Richard Booth from Lakeside Hotel; he was able to offer advice and help judge the dishes that the students made as part of the Young Chef Challenge.
Students had to create a dish for an athlete of their choice and explain how their food would provide the right amounts of energy.
In what was a very close competition, joint winners where Jamie, who made a mushroom risotto, and Jenny who made mediterranean chicken with lemon Couscous, both from Year 7.
Well done to everyone who took part.
Health eating and the ability to cook is an essential part of every child’s upbringing. Not only does it teach a number of different skills like organisation and time management, but it also brings a sense of pride and responsibility knowing you can cook for yourself and others.
Our very own UVHS cooking club will be taking part in Get Set to Eat Fresh week by taking on a cooking challenge themed around the GB Athletes. With just 249 days until the winter Olympics, and with preparations well under way for the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics, athletes will be thinking a lot about to maximise their diet in order to achieve their full sporting potential.
More information include videos from athletes, resources and recipes, and to see if any Team GB athletes are in your area, visit Get Set to Eat Fresh
School Angel works with lots of big shopping brands in the UK which have agreed to donate a portion of the profit, they normally make on your shopping if you use the School Angel website to visit their shop. You are guaranteed to only pay exactly the same price, for whatever you buy, but UVHS will also receive a donation.
