A Level Results 2018

Ulverston Victoria High School A Level Results 2018

UVHS is absolutely delighted with the achievements of all students at A Level with results having come through today.

While students will individually receive their results as normal on results day, collectively and individually, the majority of schools in Cumbria and all those in the Furness Education Consortium have decided to co-ordinate publishing aggregate results data in early September. This is to allow the performance to be thoroughly checked and include the normal remarks and appeals processes. By doing this schools, the media and parents can be confident that the post-remarks data will be consistent across all schools and will be subject to little change afterwards.

The data will be published in good time, to ensure it is available to parents and pupils making decisions about secondary school applications. However, we at UVHS will still be celebrating the many individual successes of their students as they always have done.

What we can confirm is that the majority of Year 13 students hoping to go to university next year have been accepted into their first choice universities with several other offers pending.  In particular, Bobby has secured his place to read Law at Oxford University, Laura will be going to Durham University to read English Literature and Will will be taking up his Sutton Trust Scholarship to read mathematics in the USA; Daniella has achieved the grades she needed to read Veterinary Medicine at Surrey and David is going to the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire of Music.

Quite a few students have also qualified to take up highly sought after Higher Apprenticeship Schemes including positions at BAE, Sellafield and Miller Waite, to name but three.

Head of Sixth Form, Mr Rastelli, said, “Yet again, we have a Year 13 cohort which has excelled in performance reflecting the commitment, dedication and sheer hard work that they have put into their time at UVHS, both inside and outside the classroom - they fully deserve to have achieved their excellent results. As usual, it has been an absolute privilege and pleasure working with these students and I wish them well with the bright futures ahead of each and every one of them.”

The highest achievers include:

Mr Hardwick, Acting Headteacher, says,  “We are absolutely delighted with the excellent outcomes that this year’s UVHS Year 13 students have achieved and are proud of each and every one of them. The results of our students reflect not only their own hard work and commitment, but also the amazing dedication and quality of our teaching and support staff alongside the superb levels of encouragement and focus fostered by parents and families.  UVHS is a true learning community, providing a traditional and challenging A-Level curriculum and these results show how all areas of a student’s life can come together to provide the very best opportunities for their futures.”
