The Royal Marines’ Band Return To Ulverston
UVHS Music Department is delighted to announce the return of The Band of His Majesty’s Royal Marines to Ulverston to take the stage alongside Ulverston Victoria’s Wind Band.
Resuming a working relationship with the Marines’ Band Service going back over 15 years, Richard Butler (Head of Music) said:
“We are delighted and very excited to be welcoming (probably) the best military band in the world back to The Coro – many of the Marines musicians have become good friends over the years, and we will also get the chance to catch up with former UVHS music students who are in the Band Service. The unique working relationship we have has resulted in annual joint concerts here in Cumbria as well as dozens of our students being given the unique opportunity to experience work experience down in Portsmouth. Unfortunately, our last planned concert weekend had to be cancelled at the last possible moment in March 2020 due to the Covid pandemic, so we have not worked together since 2019. This promises to be a truly amazing musical spectacle, especially as the world-famous Corps of Drums will also be performing.”
UVHS musicians have already begun planning for the joint concert, but before that they are staging the annual UVHS Christmas Festival at The Coro on Wednesday 14th December. Both events start at 7.30pm and tickets are available through The Coro’s website – www.thecoro.co.uk
