Future Chef 2017

Before half term UVHS students took part in the school heat of Future Chef.

Future Chef – a national competition that aims to find the best young chefs in the country. The students who entered the competition demonstrated some exceptional cookery skill and knowledge and the team of judges were certainly very well fed!

The brief was to create a hot main course for two people, spending no more than £5. Competitors were marked on how well they worked, their kitchen safety, nutritional balance of their dish, the presentation and look of the dish, and most importantly, the taste and flavour.

Unfortunately, only two students could progress through to the next round at Kendal College. The winners from the UVHS school heat were Sophie Y10, and Braedon Y8.

Congratulations to the two winners and all who took part. Special thanks to the team of judges, and Eden Y13 for yet again giving up her time to take these fantastic images. Eden does a fantastic job helping me out. Some of the work she has done with me has been entered in competition and it is only fair she gets the recognition she deserves.

Eden has been a part of many foodie events in school and gives up a lot of her time to take photographs and editing students work. To keep up to date with her pictures, see her Instagram page – Eden_photos1999

Students who have a passion for cooking should join Cooking Club (Monday’s), and Year 10 students should look out for information about the upcoming Masterchef competition.
