Healthy Active Lifestyle 2023
For this 7 week term (starting Tuesday 3rd) you are going to participate in different fitness classes within your PE lessons.
These sessions will be different each week with the aim to show you alternative methods of exercise.
We understand that many of you may not carry on with traditional team sports after school but you need to know alternative activities you can continue with to ensure you lead a healthy active lifestyle.
As always with the fitness term exercising is not enough. Being healthy does not just require you to exercise, but you need to eat healthy too!
During the fitness term we will also have many challenges to undertake that promote a healthy lifestyle. For example:
- Eating 5-a-day
- Drinking 2 litres of water
- Cooking a healthy tea from the recipe bank.
- Join an extra-curricular club
Each year we take part in a 5K run at the end of the fitness term and raise money for a charity!
In the current climate we felt as a school that this year, our fundraising efforts should support the Ulverston-Barrow food bank!

We don’t think anyone in our community should have to face going hungry. That’s why we provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us in crisis.
The foodbank aims to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.
The foodbank wants to make sure that no one in our local community has to go hungry, but we need your help to make this happen…
How can we help?
To help the foodbank combat poverty and hunger our local area we are going to take part in a sponsored run!
- You will take part in a 5K run at the end of the fitness term.
- You will aim to get some sponsors for your efforts!

That’s not all…
Each week there will be a fitness challenge for all pupils to try and carry out.
PLEASE UPLOAD YOUR CHALLENGE ENTRY TO TEAMS. PRIZES ARE UP FOR GRABS FOR THE CHALLENGE WINNERS.
Week 1: Eat 5-a-day every day in the week (Monday-Friday)
Upload a picture of your balanced meal (healthy meal plate)
Week 2: 30 minutes continuous exercise at least 3 times in the week
Upload a picture of you or a screenshot of the distance/ exercise you have completed! (eg upload from strava)
Week 3: Cook 3 recipes from the recipe bank
Upload pictures of the new recipes you have made this week!

Week 4: Perform 5 exercises from the exercise bank on the school website
Upload images of you completing these exercises
Week 5: Do something to help you relax
For example: reading, listening to music, yoga, meditate, go for a walk)
Upload images of you being ZEN!
Week 6: Come to an extra-curricular club to practice your sporting skills!
Get a sticker from your teacher to stick in your planner as evidence of attendance
Week 7: Cardiovascular fitness focus
Fundraise and complete the 5K run!
