Another successful 'Charity Walk' took place on Tuesday 17th July 2018.
The 10-mile sponsored walk took place with no major incidents and all students and staff thoroughly enjoyed the day. As usual everyone at UVHS took part either as walkers or marshals finishing with free time outside to relax, enjoy a BBQ on the school fields and socialise with friends. This year was a record breaking year for sponsorship which we are grateful to our students and community for donating.
Our charity this year was 'North West Air Ambulance' (NWAA) and we were fortunate to donate £6000 received by Sarah Thompson of Air Ambulance on the day. Sarah said a few words at the presentation but was quite taken by the event and especially with the student's and the atmosphere they created after the event.
A special thanks also went to Mr Butler and the UVHS Swing Band who played all afternoon after only getting back from a concert tour to Paris in the early hours of the day. At the beginning of June the band also participated in another fundraiser for the NWAA, helping to raise another £7000 for them.
UVHS will look forward to this event again next year.
The 'Golden Boot' was awarded to Mr Rodger's form 7.4 for the most money collected as a group, as well as prizes to the 'Top 10 Money Raisers' (this of course was not funded from the Charity Walk donations.
