UVHS PPE Production
The Art & DT department at UVHS are delighted to have been able to join the efforts of
over 400 schools nationally who have been able to produce PPE during the Covid 19
Collectively as a subject, DT faculties have made and donated over 362,900 pieces of
single use PPE to help where there have been shortages in supply. Staff at school have to
date sewn nearly 200 scrub bags and laser cut and assembled over 1,000 facial shields
and 1,200 ear savers for those workers who wear face masks all day. These have then
been doorstep delivered to anyone who has needed them including: Local GP surgeries,
residential care homes, hospices, assisted living centres, mobile care workers, shop staff,
the South Cumbria Team for people who have drug and alcohol issues, paramedics and
children’s care homes for those with social, emotional and behavioural differences. We
have tried to support anyone in the South Cumbria area covering a geographical range
between Barrow In Furness, Millom , Coniston, Grange Over Sands and Lancashire.
Thank you to everyone who has helped with the donation of materials, production of PPE,
delivery of items and publicity to help spread the message in the community.
