A Level Results 2017

UVHS is absolutely delighted with the achievements of all students at A Level with results having come through today.

While students will individually receive their results as normal on results day, collectively and individually, the majority of schools in Cumbria and all those in the Furness Education Consortium have decided to co-ordinate publishing aggregate results data in early September. This is to allow the performance to be thoroughly checked and include the normal remarks and appeals processes. By doing this schools, the media and parents can be confident that the post-remarks data will be consistent across all schools and will be subject to little change afterwards.

The data will be published in good time, to ensure it is available to parents and pupils making decisions about secondary school applications.

We recognise that this is a change from the past but on Results’ Day schools will be celebrating the many individual successes of their students as they always have done.

What we can confirm is that a very satisfying 75% of all Year 13 students have been immediately accepted into their first choice universities with several other offers pending.  Indeed 2 students have been accepted by Cambridge (Dylan – Computer Science and Emily – Music), another student has turned down her place at Oxford and one other student is awaiting confirmation of her place at Cambridge; a further 2 students will be studying at Durham.

Quite a few students have also qualified to take up highly sought after Higher Apprenticeship Schemes including positions at BAE, JF Hornby, Forge Europa and, in the case of Alex (2 A*, 1C), Ernst & Young.

Head of Sixth Form, Mr Rastelli said “It has been an absolute privilege and pleasure working with this year group. With the commitment, dedication and sheer hard work that they have put into their time at UVHS, both inside and outside the classroom, they fully deserve to have achieved such outstanding results. They will be sorely missed. I will certainly continue to wear my Class of 2017 sixth form leavers’ hoodie (that they presented to me as a farewell present) with a real feeling of pride around the streets of Ulverston and beyond!”

The highest achiever was with 3 A*s (he will be going to Cambridge to study Computer Science), followed by-

A*A*A - Annabelle

A*AA – Emily, Matthew, Sulagna, Connor, Mary, Emily, Jay, Ella, Luke, Jasmine, Martyna & Luke (with an additional B each)

A*A*B – Dea

A*A* - Ronan (completing 3rd A Level in 2018)

A*A*C – Alex

A*AB - Bethan, Hugh, Ben

AAAA – Alex

AAA – Brandon, Charlie, Georgia (Head Girl)

AAAB - Isobel

Mr Hardwick, Head of School says –  “We are absolutely delighted with the phenomenal outcomes that this year’s UVHS Year 13 students have achieved and are proud of each and every one of them. The outstanding results of our students reflect not only their own hard work and commitment, but also the amazing dedication and quality of our teaching and support staff alongside the superb levels of encouragement and focus fostered by parents and families.  UVHS is a true learning community, providing a traditional and challenging A-Level curriculum and these results show how all areas of a student’s life can come together to provide the very best opportunities for their futures.”
