GCSE Results Day 2017

UVHS staff and students are delighted with the 2017 GCSE results.

Headteacher Denis Fay said “I would personally like to congratulate all the students in all the FEC schools who have been successful in their results today.  Cumbrian schools are proud to serve our children, their families and the communities they come from. This year there are more changes than ever to the grading system, grade boundaries and performance measures. With the most significant change coming in English and mathematics we are making sure that collectively and individually we have accurate data to share with the media, the public and other stakeholders who are as keen as we are to celebrate the successes of our children and to congratulate all of our school staff.”

“As always there are a number of queries over re-marks and grade boundaries and so, once the official DfE September checking exercise has been completed we will issue our headline data. For now, it is essential we focus on the real stars of today; the students.”

Head of School, Matthew Hardwick, added;

“Our students, the children of our wonderful county and schools are also more than the sum of their grades and so today we want to celebrate the individuals who have shone for all sorts of reasons. We are extremely proud of the overall outcomes for the year group as a whole and absolutely delighted many individual performances. Today’s results are a reflection of the immense dedication, commitment and sheer hard work that has been put in by both the students and staff of our fantastic school, as well as the phenomenal support of our parental body. It is also always important to remember that schools should not be ‘results factories’ and we have endeavoured to prepare each and every one of our students as much as possible for their future lives – again our students and staff have shown unbelievable levels of drive in providing/enjoying a huge range of extra-curricular provision. We wish them all the very best of luck in their chosen paths as they continue to create their own life stories.”

Some excellent results were achieved by many including:
