The Great UVHS KS3 Cook Off
Each year Mr Hall takes great pride in being able to offer a weekly ‘Cooking Club’ to KS3 students. This obviously hasn’t happened for some time, but I’m pleased to say that a special Bake Off style competition will be taking place this year.
Students in Years 7-9 may enter the 10 week competition which takes the format of our traditional Cooking Club. The twist this year is that students are competing to claim the prize and accolade of UVHS Star Baker! Certificates and prizes will be awarded at the end of the competition, with a focus on creativity and determination, not necessarily just skill.
The competition will take place in D5 on Mondays from 3:30pm - 4:45pm beginning on Monday 17th January. Students will be given a recipe booklet when they return their permission slip, they will also be added to a new Team which will act as a bake-off community. Recipes can be adapted, altered, improved and ‘jazzed up’ to give an edge on competitors. Please remember though, we are a nut free school. Students, and yourself, will find the recipe booklet below and on the school website under the ‘Cooking Club’ tab.
Students are required to bring their own ingredients, storing them safely in the fridges within the Food Department. No student will be excluded from the Club and if you have any difficulty funding ingredients, please contact Mr Hall in confidence at school. Students will also be required to make their own travel arrangements home.
Places are limited and will be given out on a first come, first served basis. If your child is interested, please could you complete the reply slip in the letter below and return it to Mr Hall as soon as possible. The first 20 students to return the reply slip below will have a guaranteed place.
Like Cooking Club always has, our Bake Off competition will be a wonderful opportunity for your child to explore a side of food and cooking he or she might not see in their usual Food Technology lessons. We are confident they will find it exciting should they choose to join.
If you would like any more information, please do not hesitate to contact Mr Hall using the school number, or directly via email – firstname.lastname@example.org
