A-Level Exam Results 2026
UVHS would like to congratulate all of our students on receiving their A-level results today. As a school, we are once again incredibly proud of the superb achievements of our Year 13 students and the commitment, resilience and focus they have demonstrated throughout their sixth-form journey.
The majority of our Year 13 students have secured places at their first-choice universities, with several other offers currently pending. A considerable number of students have also successfully secured highly sought-after higher and degree apprenticeships, including opportunities with BAE in particular.
Head of Sixth Form Matt Sims said: “We are incredibly proud of our students and their outstanding A-Level results this year. These achievements reflect not only their dedication, resilience and commitment, but also the hard work of our staff and the supportive environment we strive to create.
“It has been, as ever, a genuine privilege to see these students flourish throughout their A-Level journey. We are delighted to see so many of them progressing to leading universities, highly competitive apprenticeships and outstanding career opportunities. They should be incredibly proud of what they have achieved.”
As in previous years, the majority of schools across Cumbria have agreed to coordinate the publication of their aggregate results data in early September. 
This allows schools sufficient time to ensure that results have been thoroughly checked and to take account of the usual review of marking and appeals processes. Publishing the data at this stage will ensure that the information is consistent across schools and provides parents, students and the wider community with a reliable picture of final outcomes, with minimal changes expected thereafter.
The final data will be published in good time to support parents and pupils who are making
decisions about secondary school applications. In the meantime, UVHS is delighted to celebrate the many individual successes of its students, including:

Headteacher Matthew Hardwick said: “These results are once again a reflection of the incredible commitment, dedication and determination demonstrated by each and every one of our students. They are also testament to the quality and professionalism of our teaching and support staff, alongside the superb levels of encouragement, aspiration and focus fostered by parents and families.
“We are immensely proud of every student and wish them every success as they take the next exciting steps in their education, training and careers. Today is an opportunity to celebrate not simply the grades they have achieved, but the individual journeys, challenges and successes behind those results.”

Following the collection of their A-Level results, here’s what some of our yr13 students had to say:
Rachel (A*, A*, A*, B) – “I was really nervous when I opened the envelope – it’s a big day.
The exams were not at all easy but I did it! I am delighted that I am going to Oxford to read Law. When I did my GCSEs I didn’t think Oxford was on the cards, but as I went through y12 I decided it was what I wanted to do. I’m going to celebrate with a Chinese meal tonight!"
Harry (A*, A*, A*, C) – “I worked really hard and felt prepared but these grades are better than I thought I’d get. I’ve wanted to study Forensics since y11 so it is a dream to be moving to Liverpool next month to do this. I am most proud about my maths result and will celebrate with my mates in the pub tonight.”
Layla (A*, A*, A*) – “I’m very happy! The resilts are much better than I had expected. Since starting y12 I’ve wanted to study Law at university and now I’m going to Manchester to do just that.”
Daniel (A*, A*, A) – “I am SO relieved – I’ve been stressed all of yesterday and overnight, but I was confident coming out of each exam. Next month I’m off to Sheffield to study Mechanical Engineering and am really looking forward to it – once I’ve celebrated in the pub tonight!!"
Will (A, A, A) – “Relieved! I thought I’d done OK but also was worried about ‘near misses’ with my grades. To know that I’m going to Oxford now to study History is unreal, especially as my GCSEs were not all top grades, but as y12 went on I felt it was something I could achieve.”
Iona (A, A, B, B) – “I have always dreamt of being a vet since I was 5 years old, and now it’s going to happen! Some of the papers were really challenging and I was nervous about today, but now I’m off to Nottingham University. I’m gong to go home and tell my cats all about it – as well as the dog I am looking after!”
Ryan (A*, A, A) – “Absolutely buzzing! I haven’t really taken it in. I’ve always wanted to study law but didn’t think it would happen until I started studying the subject here at UVHS in y12. After the open days, I had my heart set on Manchester.”
Jasmyn (A*, A*, B) – “I am so surprised, especially with the A* in History. Lots of my friends are going to Newcastle so I’m delighted to be joining them, especially to be studying Law.”
