Prospective Parents & Year 6 Transition
Welcome to the Prospective Pupils & Transition area. Everyone at UVHS was really excited to welcome all of our new yr7 students and their families into the school community at the beginning of September 2021, and we are equally eager to show off our wonderful school to prospective students – yr5 & 6 pupils and families.
The current global situation has obviously meant that we were unable to stage our traditional Open Week and Open Evening at the end of September 2021, where families visit the school during the day and/or evening to observe first-hand the wide range of activities that we are able to offer (both inside and outside the classroom). However, should you be interested in joining the UVHS family in September 2022 you can be safe in the knowledge that you are coming to a school renowned for its ‘outstanding provision’ both by OFSTED and within the wider community, and one that has consistently been amongst the highest achieving secondary schools in Cumbria at both GCSE and A Level for many years.
Below is a series of film-shorts spotlighting each area of the school. There are also links to some of the information that was sent to our current yr7 pupils and parents in June as part of our 2020 transition programme: a video tour of the school, the Pupil Transition Booklet and our Parents’ Guide to UVHS. These give you lots of information about the school and what goes on in each building – although the Head of Year 7 in 2022 will be different, the rest of the information is current.
Where primary schools have been able to invite him in, Mr Butler (Assistant Headteacher) is in the process of visiting yr6 classes to discuss what to look for in a secondary school and what UVHS and other local secondary schools have to offer.
Should you have any queries, please feel free to contact Mr Butler by ringing the Main Office.
